On Chesil Beach

1962. In an England corseted by stifling social conventions, Florence and Edward, in their early twenties, have just married. As inexperienced as they are, they spend their first night together in a stilted hotel under the mocking eye of the staff. Totally paralyzed at the thought of making the slightest mistake, they both remember their meeting. Florence, a brilliant violinist raised in a wealthy and conservative family, had fallen in love with Edward, an aspiring writer from a more modest background.
